I'm April L'Orange, and I'm here to help make your writing better – without making it into somebody else's writing.  I've been providing proofreading, copyediting, and story editing services to professional and amateur authors since 1991.  I have lately begun to offer e-book formatting and transcription of previously-published books into electronic format for future re-publication.

This is a time of great change for the publishing industry.  Large publishing houses have been fighting low profit margins and often won't risk publishing anything they don't think has the potential to be a bestseller.  Small presses have begun to step into the gap this leaves in the market, but these smaller publishing houses often can't provide the kind of editing services that really allow authors to groom and polish their work before it goes to press.  Authors choosing to self-publish have even less recourse.

As your editor, I will work with you to understand what services you are interested in and work accordingly.  I will not try to change your story or your individual writing voice.  My job is to make sure your writing is still authentically yours, and that it shows you at your very best.
